2001 CONFERENCE A SUCCESS!!!!.

THANK YOU!!

Each year the Board of Directors tries to have exciting raffle prizes to close out the conference.  One of the prizes this year was a police-style Trek mountain bike, complete with "Police" stickers for the winner to put on it.  The winner of the Trek bike was Steve Etzel of Marion, Iowa.  Steve is the president of the newly formed Iowa chapter of N.A.F.T.O..

Trek Bicycles are made in Waterloo, WI just east of Madison.  Trek, USA is a direct supplier of specialty bikes to the U.S. Secret Service and most recently Trek bikes are being sent to the NYPD and New Your Port Authority for use around the World Trade Center disaster area.

WI-NAFTO would like to thank Trek USA and Todd Heal, the former law enforcement coordinator, for the donation of the Trek bike as a raffle prize at this year's conference.

Thank you TREK!

From your director;

The 2001 fall conference is in the books.  It was our biggest ever with 167 registered attendees. Comments heard in passing noted that most of the presentations were well received. Some of the highlights included Bob Willis’ presentation and our opening ceremony. The state director for the Iowa State Chapter walked away with a ton of loot and hopefully he will inform his IRS representative of his winnings.

The final totals are not in yet ‘cause we’re still paying the bills but your attendance this year has definitely made NAFTO’S financial status stronger.

Congratulations to Dale Kuhlka -Vice Director for Corrections, Tim ShawTreasurer, and Mary Kay Beau-Vice Director for Communications.

A special thanks to all the state and regional board members who worked through what seemed like an insurmountable task, that being almost no conference publicity throughout the year, and put together a record setting conference. I could not have asked for better people to work with. Sorry I could not afford flowers for all of you, but I did haul the refreshment trailer” all the way from Fond du Lac to the conference site.

Once the evaluations are read and your voices heard the next conference site and agenda will start to take shape.

If you have any ideas or thoughts that may benefit the organization, please let your state and regional board members know.  Remember that it’s your N.A.F.T.O. chapter and we are only the facilitators.,

Train safe and ALWAYS FORWARD!

Captain “Mac” Makowski         State Director NA.F.T.O. Wisconsin Chapter

TRAINING MANUALS NEEDED

We are in the process of creating a library of training manuals and policies from departments within the State.

We are in need of your help. if you are permitted to, please send a copy of your manual and/or policy to the  Secretary of NAFTO, Pat Ninmann, Dodge County Sheriff’s Dept., 141 N. Main
St., Juneau, WI 53039.

If you have these on disk, you may choose to just send a copy of the disk and we well keep that on file.

We are attempting to get as many different manuals as possible so the departments that are creating or revamping their training manuals/policies will have access to different manuals to gain further information.

If you would like copies of these manuals after they are received, please email Pat at ninmann@powercom.net and she will forward copies to you.
