Information
about NAFTO: NAFTO
is an educational and professional association concerned with apprenticeship
training (commonly referred to as the Field Training Officer concept) for
police, communications and corrections personnel. Educators, administrators,
and other criminal justice practitioners are encouraged to participate. The
concept of NAFTO was formalized with its incorporation as a non-profit organization
in California in 1991 and was reorganized/relocated to a more central location
(Colorado) in 1993. Currently, the NAFTO main office is located in Wisconsin.
Training Conference: The
Training Conference will be held at the Sheraton Inn Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor,
Michigan, May 5-9, 2002. There are numerous breakout sessions
scheduled. There is also a FTO Supervisor’s School track scheduled.

NAFTO has negotiated
extremely reasonable lodging rates with the Sheraton Inn Ann Arbor. NAFTO’s
group rate prior to April 1, 2002: $85 single/dbl. The rate will be in effect three days prior to and after
the event. For lodging reservations, contact Sheraton Inn Ann Arbor at
734.996.0600 or 800.848.2770. Be sure to request the NAFTO’s rate or that for
the National Association of Field Training Officers.
Airport Ground Transportation: If you arrive in Ann Arbor by air, you will
need to contact ground transportation for travel to the hotel. Ground
transportation arrangements are pending with Commuter Express at 888.854.6700. Information will be posted
on the website when available, so please check
