AWARD
We’re looking for the best
Telecommunicator
in Wisconsin
The WI chapter of APCO will present awards to
public safety communications personnel who demonstrated the
highest
level of personal and professional conduct in the line of duty. The
nomination deadline is March 8.
2002.
Nominees must have been
employed by the nominating agency any time between March 1, 2001 and February 28,2002. Nominees do not need to be
members of Wi APCO.
The nominating person needs to provide
written information about the nominee relating to various criteria of job
performance and other attributes.
Send a copy of the nomination package
postmarked no later than March 8, 2002 to: Communications Supervisor LeAnn Kriep. UW Madison Police Dept.. 1429 Monme St.. Madison. WI 53711.
Your nomination packet should
include:
1. Describe the nominee’s public safety agency
and communications division.
2. Describe his/her duties and responsibilities. What previous positions
has he/she held?
3. Describe how the nominee demonstrates a willingness to operate as
a team player.
4. Give examples of actions that reflect the tradition of public
safety service.
5. Describe how the nominee demonstrates his/her knowledge of the
profession.
6. Show the nominee’s demonstration of exceptional courage,
foresight, alertness and skill in the performance of his/her profession.
7. In 200 words or fewer tell why the candidate deserves the WI
Telecommunicator of the Year award. You can submit newspaper clippings end
commendation letters (limit two pages of each), and audiocassette (maximum
length 15 minutes) and a videotape (maximum length five minutes) with the
nomination package. Submissions will not be returned.
A committee will select the three winners:
one overall winner, and a runner up from the two categories of best Customer
Service and best handling of a Critical Incident. Committee members will be last
year’s overall winner, and a mix of a Police and/or Fire Chief, Communications
Supervisor, and Telecommunicators from various agencies throughout the state.
The awards will be presented during the opening breakfast of the 2002 APCO
North Central Regional Conference and Exposition at the Alliant Center in
Madison on April 29,2002.

THE 2002 CONFERENCE
IS CURRENTLY BEING PLANNED AND TENTATIVE DATES FOR
THE CONFERENCE ARE OCTOBER 8,9,10 2002. THE LOCATION
HAS NOT BEEN FINALIZED
BUT WILL BE SHORTLY.
THIS IS OUR 10TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE SO LOOK FOR IT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST YET WITH OUTSTANDING SPEAKERS AND
PRESENTERS.
